Fully Human, Fully Divine

During this Lenten season, I find myself thinking about what Jesus was thinking about in the days leading up to the crucifixion. He was fully Divine, but also fully human. What was the wrestle of Jesus’ human heart? 

Jesus knew the plan; He knew why He had come. God had set in motion the greatest rescue to happen in the most unlikely way and it would require everything of Jesus. In His humanity He must have wanted another option; one that didn’t include pain, suffering, and ultimately death. 

But the divinity of Jesus knew that what appeared to be a death blow to the Church was actually the birth of the Church; the supernatural multiplication of the Kingdom of God. 

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels- a plentiful harvest of new lives.” John 12:24

The death of Jesus was the beginning of a revolution, and His resurrection an invitation for us to follow His example of speaking life to dead things. Through the resurrection power of the cross of Jesus Christ, we can speak life to the death in our minds, hearts, bodies, and spirits. We are counted among the “plentiful harvest of new lives.” 

Jesus came to make wrong things right. 

Jesus came to make dead things alive.
